Hi there, it’s been a very long time since my last post. This post is about a special experience in my life, so I would like to write about it and share it with you guys.

Personal background

Before I started doing malware analysis, I was a Field Application Engineer in the IoT industry for more than three years. As a Field Application Engineer in my former company, this position is responsible for assisting sales in promoting embedded system products and helping customers resolve product issues. Additionally, when customers requested specific software functions, I developed them for them.

In these three years, what triggered my interest in cybersecurity are some cases that I have:

  • Customers’ systems got hacked
  • Based on customers’ requests to patch the vulnerability of Android system code
  • Reverse engineering product applications to help customers debugging systems

Therefore, my career has changed. I stepped into the cybersecurity industry in 2020, became a cybersecurity engineer, and focused on malware analysis and threat intelligence.

A training opportunity

In 2023, my company offered an opportunity to take SANS Security courses. I would like to thank my supervisor, John, and my colleagues, Denise and Zhirou, who encouraged me to take this…
